Talking About Wedding Planning

Hello everyone, I'm Selma Marshall. I would like to share my knowledge about wedding planning on this site. The wedding planning process often starts out slow with the selection of the decorations and venue. From there, the date seems to arrive faster and faster as the bride and groom pick their outfits to wear at the altar. Picking the outfits for the wedding party often proves even more difficult, especially when dealing with a number of different personalities and preferences. I would like to talk about ways to streamline the wedding planning process without upping stress levels. I hope you can use the information I provide to plan the wedding of your dreams.

Cherish The Memories: 4 Steps To Protecting Your Baby's Baptismal Gown

by Diane Roux

You put a lot of thought and love into choosing the perfect baptism gown for your baby. Now that the special ceremony is over, you want to preserve the gown for posterity. One thing you should know is that you can't just hang it in the closet. Over time, the delicate material will rot and become discolored. To make sure your baby's baptismal gown is preserved properly, you'll need to take the appropriate measures. Here are some simple instructions you can follow that will help prevent damage to baby baptism dresses:

Clean the Gown Carefully

Once the ceremony is completed, and you're ready to preserve the gown, you'll need to give it a thorough cleaning. Even if the gown isn't visibly dirty, it still has oils from your skin and your baby's skin on the fabric. Those oils can discolor the fabric. If your gown was store-bought, be sure to follow the cleaning instructions on the label. If your gown was handmade, you should wash it by hand. Use a gentle detergent, rinse it thoroughly, and then allow it to air dry.

Protect it Against Hard Creases and Wrinkles

After you've cleaned your baby's baptismal gown, you'll want to protect it against hard creases and wrinkles while it's in storage. The best way to do that is with acid-free tissue paper. Lay the baptismal gown on a flat surface, and carefully fill it with your acid-free tissue paper. Pay close attention to the sleeves, and pleats. You'll want to use enough tissue paper to prevent creases and wrinkles.

Place it in a Breathable Garment Bag

When choosing a garment bag to store your baby's baptismal gown, you'll want to avoid plastic or vinyl garment bags. These bags can allow moisture to build up, which could invite fabric rot, and even mold. Instead, choose a cotton garment bag for the storage of your baby's gown. Once you have the gown in a garment bag, you can place it in a cardboard dress box. This will give the gown an added layer of protection.

Store Under Carefully Protected Conditions

Once your baby's gown is packed and ready for storage, you'll want to be sure it's stored under carefully-protected conditions, such as your closet, or under your bed. You want to avoid storing it in extreme heat, or in areas that will be exposed to moisture, such as storage sheds, or your attic.
