Talking About Wedding Planning

Hello everyone, I'm Selma Marshall. I would like to share my knowledge about wedding planning on this site. The wedding planning process often starts out slow with the selection of the decorations and venue. From there, the date seems to arrive faster and faster as the bride and groom pick their outfits to wear at the altar. Picking the outfits for the wedding party often proves even more difficult, especially when dealing with a number of different personalities and preferences. I would like to talk about ways to streamline the wedding planning process without upping stress levels. I hope you can use the information I provide to plan the wedding of your dreams.

Getting Married On The Beach? 2 Things You Should Consider Before You Pick A Dress

by Diane Roux

After booking that tropical resort for your destination wedding, you might find yourself dreaming about the sand between your toes and the sun on your face as you say "I do." However, before you get carried away with thoughts of summertime sunsets and flower leis, you need to find the perfect wedding gown. Here are two things you should consider before you pick a dress for your beach wedding:

1: Length

That full-length ball gown might look great in that store window, but it might be the wrong choice for your beach wedding. Because beach weddings are all about embracing nature and basking in the beauty of the sea, consider a shorter, more casual take on your wedding dress. Here are a few reasons a shorter dress might suit your ceremony better:

  • Show Off Your Shoes: If you choose a long wedding dress, your friends and family members might not be able to see those gorgeous bejeweled flats you finally found to match your dress. However, wearing a shorter dress will give you the opportunity to show off a great pair of pumps, flats, or sandals.
  • Dress Cleanliness: After finding the perfect gown, you might not be too excited to see that train dragging behind you in the mud. Unfortunately, long dresses can get dirty after a single walk down the aisle, and sand can get stuck inside intricate beading. However, if your gown is off of the ground, you might be able to keep it pristine.
  • Water Pictures: If you love the water, you might want a few pictures of you and your new hubby playing in that bubbly sea. Unfortunately, that long dress might make it hard to take a walk near those incoming waves.

As you shop for your perfect beach wedding dress, look for tea length, midi, knee length, or cocktail dresses. A tea length dress will hit your legs right above the ankle, while a midi dress will extend right below your knee. If you are looking for a sexier gown, a cocktail length dress that shows off your legs might be right for you.

2: Fabric Choice

After you fall in love with a beautiful short dress, you might be ready to have your measurements taken and get it ordered. However, fabric choice is another important consideration that can make or break your beach wedding experience. As you shop for a wedding dress, look for fabrics with these qualities:

  • Movement: For a dress that flows in the breeze, look for dresses finished with light, airy fabrics like georgette and chiffon. Both fabrics are lightweight and sheer, which will give your dress movement and visual interest.
  • Formality: Consider the formality of your fabric choices. For a more formal beach ceremony, look for satin or silk dresses. However, if you are going for a more casual feel, nix the heavy beading and look for lightweight cotton or charmeuse fabric.
  • Comfort: If you are planning on wearing that dress all day long, don't forget to think about comfort. Tropical destinations can be especially warm, which is why finding a breathable fabric might be a good idea. Stay away from polyester, which typically doesn't breathe well.
  • Color: Your wedding day is going to be a little different, so why shouldn't your dress be unique too? Consider making your wedding special by choosing a light pastel dress, which might make your beach wedding even more special. Pale yellow, blush tones, or even light blue dresses might look great against the sand and surf.

By selecting the right dress for your beach ceremony, you might be able to stay clean, comfortable, and happy on your big day. Visit bridal shops like Moonlight Bridal to check out their available selections.
